これでわかるアメリカの貧富の差。最富裕学校区と最貧困学校区 トップ10

世界的に富裕層と貧困層の経済格差は開いているが、特にアメリカではその差が著しいといわれている。これは特に学校区において見ることができる。

6月6日付の24/7 Wall St.に、2006年から2010年における国勢調査を元にアメリカ国内の1万の学校区の「経済格差」を調査した記事が掲載されているので、紹介したい。

アメリカ南部に行くと、「北部は豊かで、南部は貧しい」「自分達は北部の人間からばかにされている」という言葉をしばしば聞き、”北部人”にひがみとやっかみの入り混じった”憎悪心”すら持っているような感じの人が多いが、つい先日も南部にいる友人と話したところ、この傾向はどうも益々高まっているのではないかという印象を持つと言っていた。

学校区におけるこの経済格差を見ると、そんな南部人達の気持も理解できなくはない。

最富裕学校区トップ10

西部の州では唯一3位になっているオレゴン州のリバーデイル学校区のみ。確かこの辺りの選挙区選出の上院議員が、先日、福島第一原発を見学して、「非常に危険。注視しろ」と議会で発言したばかり。
